London Marathon: Training week 11

Another week's training done, another week closer to London Marathon. And my second 50 mile week, exciting!

Here's what I got up to:

Monday: Easy 6 miles and 1 hour S&C: Love banking Monday miles, always feels great to kick the week off with a run. Kept the pace nice and easy and finished the run with 2 miles on the trails to keep the legs and feet happy! Then an hour of lower body S&C.

Tuesday: Steady 10 miles: Took to my favourite loop for a steady 10. Great to switch my mind off and just run!

Wednesday: Easy 3 miles and 20 minutes S&C: Easy 3 today, just to keep the mileage up really and keep things ticking over. Then a quick S&C session with weights and the mini band.

Thursday: 7 miles (1 easy, 5 at 7:30 pace, 1 easy): Good session, pushed the speed a bit!

Friday: Rest

Saturday: Parkun: Unexpected running joy at Hove Park parkrun! Yesterday, I fell down the STAIRS for god's sake and landed really heavily on my foot. I dunno how I ended up so clumsy but here I am! My foot felt so sore in the night - I had to ice and elevate at 3am and had basically binned off the idea of running today. But, I woke up bruised but ok and gave it a shot. And it paid off in the form of a shiny new 5k PB! 4 seconds off my previous PB at 20:31. That sub 20 is getting closer!!

Sunday: LSR 18.5 miles: We picked such a great route for this - started at Brighton Marina and ran the 9 miles to Shoreham seafront. Then back again. My aim was 8:20 pace and I was happy to stick close to that. I definitely didn't want to push the pace. The route was prefect, and flat! But the first sunny run of the year really felt unexpectedly hot (it was like 13 degrees but boy it felt hot after winter training!) and my legs were starting to cramp by the end.

Just three weeks to go now until the glorious taper begins. And we have the AW20 on Sunday which I'm so excited about!
